NORTHUMBERLAND

HUMANE SOCIETY

To say that we appreciate our volunteers is the understatement of the year. Volunteers for the Northumberland Humane Society are the solid ground upon which the NHS stands. We applaud and acknowledge the efforts of each individual who gives their time to making it possible for the NHS to continue to provide care and temporary housing for the animals of Northumberland County until they find their forever home.

WHO ARE OUR VOLUNTEERS?

Members of the Board of Directors from various professional backgrounds who guide the NHS toward short-term and long-term goals. They work tirelessly behind the scenes lending their expertise to fund management and expenditure allocation, moral support, and business advice. Thrift Shop workers with multiple years of keeping the store in top form and attracting both regular clientele and new shoppers alike with a great selection and presentation of gently used donated items. Dog walkers who brave all kinds of weather every day of the week to make sure the dogs get exercise and enrichment. Whether rain or shine, snow or wind they each understand the necessity of keeping the dogs? spirits high. Dog kennel attendants who give each dog a cozy place to call home for a short time. Cat care attendants who take their task of cat socializing very seriously. Whether it?s cuddling the lonely senior cat who has lost his or her person, straightening beds, or the less-than-glamourous task of cleaning litter boxes. Fundraising volunteers who give their precious spare time to help with: handing out information and answering questions, sitting with the Christmas tree in the mall, standing at parking lots, selling bingo cards and managing paperwork, donning costumes, providing homemade goodies, loading and unloading the van at events, lending moral support. If you are among these people hold your head high and wear your volunteer badge proudly! Your contribution to the Northumberland Humane Society is invaluable and our appreciation goes far beyond words.
