National Volunteer Week
Give Something Back:
APRIL 6 - APRIL 12, 2014
National Volunteer Week, which is in its 72nd year, is celebrated from April 6th ? 12th, 2014. Currently there are over thirteen million individuals volunteering their time in our country. This week offers us the opportunity to celebrate and thank them for the vital contribution they make to our communities. Historically, volunteers have always played an essential role at Children?s Aid Societies. At Highland Shores Children?s Aid which serves Hastings, Northumberland and Prince Edward counties, our volunteers assist in a variety of important ways. ?Our volunteers make a difference in the lives of the families and children we serve. They may volunteer as a driver, work with a youth in care, offer their expertise as a Board or committee member, or assist with the planning or execution of a fundraising event. Each volunteer is important to our Society and their contributions are vital to helping us be successful in the work that we do?, said Cynthia Robertson, Supervisor, Resources for Highland Shores Children?s Aid. Last fiscal year, over 60 volunteers gave of their time to the Society. Volunteer drivers logged over 646,000 kms as they served families in the Counties of Hastings, Northumberland and Prince Edward. We thank our many volunteers for their contribution to the work of our agency and we are proud to recognize them this week and in the future. If you would like more information about how you can make a difference by volunteering with the Society, contact Cynthia Robertson at 905-372-1821, ext. 2600 (Centalized Screening.)
